Private sector’s standpoint to revive the extremely important tourism sector

The Lebanese Business Leaders Association (RDCL) Tourism GPA (Group of Proposition & Action), organized a lecture on tourism, aiming to propose projects from the private sector’s standpoint to revive the extremely important tourism sector in Lebanon. The event was held on November 15, 2022, at the association’s headquarters in Beirut Central District.

Mr. Joe Boulos, Head of the Tourism GPA, opened the event by introducing the GPA and its objectives, stressing on the value of sharing ideas and suggesting projects that can be done in the tourism sector, with the help and the effective contribution of RDCL.

Mrs. Roula Ajouz, sustainable tourism strategic planner, talked about cultural tourism in Lebanon, while proposing solutions that can help revive this sector.

Mr. Omar Sakr, president of the Lebanon Mountain Trail Association introduced LMTA, a community-based trail passing by a rich array of Lebanese villages of various cultures and backgrounds. He evoked the fact that the latter was remarkably able to be rendered accessible for people with physical difficulties or disabilities. Moreover, he explained that through international associations, LMTA is working on expanding the trail and attracting more nature lovers from all over the world.

Mr. Joe Boulos, Head of RDCL Tourism GPA moderated the discussion following the presentations, during which many members of RDCL and key actors from the tourism sector were present, including Dr. Joyce Azzam, member and partner of RDCL, and the only Lebanese women to climb Everest and all the seven highest summits of the world, in addition to representatives of the touristic guides syndicate. The invitees shared their opinions and made several suggestions. The audience insisted on the vital importance of educating children about Lebanon’s history.
